Welcome to Vipassana Hawai‘i.

Supporting the teachings of classical Buddhism and making them relevant to the issues of our day, Vipassana Hawai‘i was established in Hawaiʻi in 1984. Its teachers have worked in the United States and internationally with established and respected meditation centers since 1975, including in Thailand and Burma, where they are affiliated with several ancient Buddhist monasteries and also provide long-term humanitarian aid.

Vipassana Hawai‘i stewards 254 acres of spacious land in North Kohala on the Island of Hawai‘i. Here, it actively gives roots to the practice of Satipatthana (Mindfulness) Vipassana (Insight) meditation with agricultural programs and natural/cultural resource conservation. This timeless land is the site of Hawai‘i Insight Meditation Center, a monastic hermitage scheduled to open in 2015.

Please explore the calendar for up-coming retreats and events. Explore this site to learn more about our programs. We invite you to join us as a Friend of Hawai‘i Insight Meditation Center with a variety of options, from planting a tree to supporting ag to aiding in the hermitage construction.
