In this Vipassana retreat we willexplore the Buddha's teachings on liberation of mind and heart. Throughlearning to connect with our mind/body process with interest andacceptance we develop greater understanding and compassion, extendingour ability to meet life's changes with ease and serenity. Withguidance from the teachers, participants are encouraged to developtrust in their own practice.
Metta is the Pali word for Lovingfriendliness. This retreat provides support to touch into the wordlessdepths of our own heart that is boundless in it's ability to love andembody kindness. Mindfulness of Metta will be offered as well asteachings on Compassion, Joy in the happiness of others, and Equanimity.

 

About the teachers:

 

Steven Smithhas been teaching Vipassana Metta retreats worldwide since 1983.  Hisclear and precise teaching of the Theravadin tradition is highlyregarded by his students.  He founded Vipassana Hawaii, began thefusion retreat style with Sayadaw U Lakkhana in Kyaswa and chairs the Metta Dana Project offering aid in Burma and Thailand.

 

Michele McDonaldhas taught Insight meditation for twenty-six years. Her style ofteaching emphasizes helping individuals find entry points intostillness that are natural for them. She encourages an understandingthe path of insight and a gentle strengthening of mindfulness andconcentration so that, ultimately, people can access the peacefuldepths of their experience in every moment. Michele is thrilled whenstudents begin to love their practice. 

 

Additional information:  Theretreat is suitable for both beginners to meditation and those withexperience. St. Anthony's is located in the woods at the back of Kalihivalley.  It is a beautiful and peaceful setting with plenty of trailsfor walking and meditation. Nightly Dhamma talks at 7:30 PM are open to the public.

 

 

Cost: There are three room options available, based on limited space, on a first come-first served basis.

 

$520 - Semi-private shared room, separate bathroom, air conditioned

$620 - Private room, separate bathroom, air conditioned

Three vegetarian meals are provided daily, but special dietary accomodations can be made if necessary. 

 

A deposit of $250 is required to reserve any of the room options. When processing payment please include a note indicating which room option you prefer.
