Vipassana Hawai'i is able to continue its humanitarian work through key partnerships with organizations that have the expertise and the ability to accomplish our mutual goals within the community. Whether in Southeast Asia or right here at home in Hawai'i these partnerships offer us the opportunities to help bring financial stability, education support, and a sense of community to those in need. Hawai'i Partners
Honolulu Diamond Sangha
A lay Zen Buddhist organization, was founded in 1959 by Anne Hopkins Aitken and Robert Aitken, Roshi, dharma heir of Yamada Roshi and author of Taking the Path of Zen, The Gateless Barrier: The Wu Men Kuan, and seven other Zen books. Our partner for many years on initiatives including Dhamma in the Prisons.
Mainland U.S. Partners
Foundation for the People of Burma
The largest, independently-supported, U.S.-based humanitarian organization focusing exclusively on Burma. We have been implementing projects and supporting community-based action since 1999.
Buddhist Peace Fellowship
A community of primarily dharma practitioners established to support socially engaged efforts of visionaries of compassionate social justice and dharma-based organizations for social change.
International Partners
Grassroots Human Right Education and Development
Our partner in Southeast Asia working to promote education, human rights, and the development of safe, working environment for Burmese people in Thailand. Many projects are currently focused on the welfare and development of Burmese People in the tsunami-affected areas in southern Thailand.
Nirodha Trust
Our partner in Sri Lanka founded by Dhammaruwan as a retreat and study center and formed with the mission of spreading the teachings of the Buddha as preserved in the Theravada tradition.
