Sonoma Mountain Zen Center, Santa Rosa, California

Limit of 15 retreatants.

This 10-day Vipassana retreat, led by Michele McDonald, will be held at the Sonoma Mountain Zen Center, 11 miles outside of Santa Rosa, California. The Zen Center is situated on 82 acres of majestic rolling hills in Sonoma County's beautiful wine country. Filled with oak, madrone, redwood, and California laurel trees, the property is host to hundreds of species of birds, deer, and other native wildlife.

The rustic, spacious meditation hall is located in the 90-year-old, renovated barn of this former ranch property. The dining room is in the original ranch house. Retreatant housing consists of cabins and yurts and the option of tent camping for anyone who prefers it.

The vegetarian meals will be prepared by the well-trained residential staff of the center, who are students of the Zen Center's teacher, Jakusho Kwong-roshi, himself a student of Shunryu Suzuki-roshi of San Francisco.

Michele led a retreat at the Zen Center in the fall of 2007 and enjoyed it so much that she wanted to return. Limited to 15 retreatants, this retreat is a precious opportunity to study with Michele in a small, intimate setting.
